Gold worth Rs 13.71 lakh seized at Mangalore airport

Mangalore: Customs officials attached to Mangalore International Airport seized gold weighing 466.650 grams valued at Rs 13.71 lakh in two separate cases.
In the first case, the officers seized two gold wires weighing 233.550 grams valued at Rs.6.86 lakh concealed in the form of beading around a brown coloured stroller suitcase brought as a checked-in baggage. It was seized from the possession of Kappanakkal Muhammed Anvar, 27, hailing from Bekal, Kasaragod who arrived at 2am on Sunday in Air India Express flight No.IX384 from Dubai.
In the second case, the officers seized a gold strip concealed in a measuring tape and 44 gold buckles, concealed in a footwear and ladies brassieres weighing 233.100 grams valued at Rs 6.85 lakh.
