Mihan crisis: Abhijeet softens, but MADC turns down offer

Nagpur:  As the Mihan power supply imbroglio entered the courtroom, Abhijeet Group, which has snapped the connection to this SEZ, offered to temporarily resume supply at old rates during a high court hearing on Wednesday. A directive issued by Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) calling for state-owned power utility MSEDCL to take over power supply has been challenged in court by a group of investors in Mihan.
Abhijeet Group expressed willingness to restart supply till MERC issues a final verdict in the case, so that consumers do not face inconvenience. However, the move was countered by Maharashtra Airport Development Company's (MADC) counsel. The lawyer representing this state government agency and the developer of Mihan-SEZ opposed the move, saying this would lead to disparity among the industrial units.
In lines with the MERC directive, three consumers, which includes MADC itself, have already applied for a connection from MSEDCL. The other two are Tata Consultancy Services and another Tata group company, TAL Manufacturing Solutions.
