Mumbai: AirAsia India's head of safety Sumant Mishra has resigned, three months after the domestic arm of the Malaysian budget airline got off the ground, sources said. The airline, however, has found the replacement, who will soon take over the position left vacant by Mishra, said a source close to the development.
Mishra was earlier the chief of flight operations for now defunct Kingfisher Airlines and joined AirAsia India in July 2013 along with 10 other Kingfisher pilots. While Capt Mishra was unavailable for comment, sources said he moved to AirAsia at a time when he had little options and is now moving to greener pastures in Singapore.
AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya said, "Capt Sumant Mishra is a dear friend and as such we don't discuss on our current employees. As we scale up our operations we would be building our scalability and strengthening our operations and changes are a critical part of the process. I am very excited about what we have planned for our operations and believe we would be continuing to develop the best class processes and systems. Capt Mishra is one of the best persons we have and we are fortunate to have him with us and in a role that would continue to allow him to grow."
