Gold worth 3.55cr seized at airport

Mumbai: About 14kg of gold worth Rs 3.55 crore was recovered over the weekend, said Air Intelligence Unit officials of the Customs department, adding that many had tried new, ingenious means to smuggle the precious metal, said .

On Friday, a six-month pregnant woman, with infant in tow, was arrested at the international airport for smuggling gold concealed in her undergarments, said Customs officials.

A senior Customs officer said that the recent seizures were remarkable in terms of quality and quantity of gold .
