Pravasi Diwas, VGGIS to choke air traffic

Ahmedabad:  Gujarat is bracing up to tackle parking problem of a different kind. As NRIs, political and business leaders fly into the city for Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas and Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit (VGGIS), Ahmedabad's sky is likely to see traffic jams in the air between January 7 and 13.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) is gearing up to handle the extra load as thousands of VVIPs, NRIs and CEOs - many of them will travel in their private jets - from across the globe.

Ensuring adequate parking space at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport for private jets is turning out to be a big task. "Managing air traffic is a big issue. We are working out various strategies along with AAI to tackle it," said Saurabh Patel, minister for finance and power, who is in-charge of preparations for both the events.
