MANGALURU: A high-level meeting will soon be held in Bengaluru soon to discuss the acquisition of land for the extension of Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) runway.
A decision in this regard was taken at the quarterly KDP review meet chaired by the district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai at Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat on Tuesday.
Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim said it will require acquisition of 200 acres additional land for the extension of the runway from 8,000 feet to 13,000 feet. "A proposal has been sent to the government for the acquisition of additional land for the airport runway. It will require Rs 121 crore for the land acquisition and compensation," Ibrahim said.
