Zambian woman held with drugs at IGI airport

New Delhi: A Zambian woman has been arrested from Indira Gandhi International Airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle out narcotics worth Rs 21 lakh.

The incident occurred on July 1 when CISF sleuths detected suspicious movements of the women flier identified as Catherine Mulenga, 36, who arrived at 11 pm to board a flight to Addis Ababa from the airport.

"Frisking of the Zambian woman's baggage led to recovery of 58 packets weighing 21 kilograms of banned narcotics called Methaqualone. The drugs were cleverly hidden in her purse and some cricket gear the lady was carrying. She was later handed over to anti-narcotics sleuths," a senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer said.
