Man held with Rs 60.74 L gold at city airport

Mumbai: Acting on specific information, customs officials intercepted Rahuman Arif Ejaz Khan at the domestic terminal of the city airport and recovered Rs 60.74 lakh worth of gold from him.

Khan, a Chennai resident, arrived in the Spicejet flight SG-488 from Kolkata and was found with two gold bars of 1 kg each, and one-half of a cut gold bar weighing 495 grams -- totally weighing 2.495 kg.

A P S Suri, commissioner, airport customs, told Mirror, "The consignment of gold was retrieved by Khan from the toilet of the aircraft that was hidden during the prior journey of the same aircraft on its Bangkok-Kolkata route."
